There was a great deal of publicity for the total eclipse of the sun on 12 August, but that was for Iceland and Spain. The UK will have to wait until 2090 for a total eclipse. So in the UK we had a partial eclipse visible in most of England. In Scotland, the eclipse was largely concealed by the cloud cover. I was a bit underwhelmed.
I think Pink Floyd did it better in 1973.
